How to do a business plan that actually works

Ever been victim of the dreaded corporate business plan? SWOT Analysis? List of goals that you have no intention of looking at ever again?
Well that’s where we come in with this week’s episode, where we run through our top tips for creating a business plan that you will actually use. Shocker I know! Linking your intrinsic motivations with your external goals and creating an action plan that is based on actual results is the way to go- we hope there are some nuggets of goals in here for you planning legends!

The customer journey

Us Recruiters love to code things as black or white in the sea of grey in which we live. So when it comes to our existing clients it’s hardly surprising that we have two categories. Not a client. And, a client.

Revolutionary.

In this episode we break down the customer journey from prospect, to repeat customer to brand ambassador- aka- those clients that will shout about you from the rooftops, and how you as a recruiter can actually impact how those relationships develop. It’s a little bit of marketing sprinkled into your business development strategy, which is how we like it.

Should you move to retained search?

Well let’s just wind Ez Khan up and watch him go. Don’t get this man started on the benefits of retained search recruitment. We all know what a retainer is, so in this episode we took a slightly different angle and focused on proving wrong the common objections we hear about why retained won’t work on your desk. We also address getting your large brand names to commit to retained, EVEN if they have a PSA. At one point I disappear under the desk and he still carries on talking. Get on to this episode contingent recruiters- we may just change your mind yet!

Bounce back ability

If you take one thing away from this week, it’s this manta- It aint life or death people! It’s recruitment.

This week, we are chatting about all things mindset, self awareness, positive energy, manifestation, energy attraction and choice. It takes everything for Laura to not pull out a guitar and start singing Kumbaya. All this whilst Ez guzzles a glass of champagne. On a serious note, if you occasionally (or regularly) struggle with your mindset or your ability to let the small stuff go, hopefully this week’s episode gives you some tips and insight into how we are still laughing after nearly 30 years of combined experience in this crazy industry.

Traits of a million dollar biller

The (not so allusive anymore) million dollar biller/recruiter. Who are they? What traits to they have? What makes them different? Are they all champagne guzzling, 12 hour a day working, super experienced consultants working across executive roles? In short. NO.

The comment traits & softer skills are relatively the same across the board.

So what are they? Pop a listen to this episode!!

Let’s talk about authenticity

Realness & authenticity. This week Ez & Laura share their best secret to success – Authenticity. Laura & EZ share their journeys from corporate compendium touting recruiters, to authentic happy recruiters! “Being ok with not being someone’s flavour” that’s the phrase that sums up this episode! Also, Ez shares some of his awful dad jokes! Turns out they’re not as funny as they think they are.

What does a recruiter actually do?

Does your Mum/Partner/Sibling/Great Auntie Mabel actually understand what you do for a job? Do they nod and smile when you talk about deals, placements and billings but you can tell the lights are on and no one is home?
Well this week’s episode is somewhat of a public service to all recruiters, as we break down what an Agency Recruiter actually does, and how they do it well. Send it to your future hires, use it to educate your clients/candidates or simply pop it on for your partner and watch as their jaw drops in awe of how bloody incredible you actually are. You are welcome.

To KPI or not to KPI

Why oh WHY do Recruitment Agencies treat KPI’s like the devil? Laura gets proper ranty on why KPI’s have got such a bad rap in our industry. When used well, KPI’s provide a framework and a structure that support your productivity and efficiency, you just have to use them RIGHT. This week we cover how to really utilise tailored KPI’s to maximise your success- regardless of your level of experience.

Tips for starting your own recruitment agency

This week, Ez & Laura give their top tips on what to consider when starting your own recruitment agency and what to look out for when you’re started it! Having started multiple businesses themselves, Ez & Laura share candidly what they wish they knew when they started their own agencies.

Networking without the shitty canapés

URGH networking. It brings to mind lukewarm savvy B, greasy pie shaped canapés and laminated finicky name badges.

So, why did we even bother recording an episode about it? Because the world of networking has changed my friends! Our definition of networking is ‘a joy of connecting others’.

Now that sounds more interesting. Networking opportunities are everywhere and our job as recruiters is to use our naturally curious (nosy) little brains to connect those around us and reap the benefits in return. And if you like standing in a room trying to stuff an arancini ball in your mouth whilst someone is selling you life insurance, well, this may not be the episode for you!
